New Australian Lutheran church body established
The General Church Board and College of Bishops has notified LCANZ pastors and congregational leaders that a new Lutheran church body called Lutheran Mission – Australia (LM-A) has been established.

District assistant bishop joins General Church Board
Queensland District First Assistant Bishop Ben Hentschke has been appointed to the LCANZ’s General Church Board (GCB) for the remainder of the synodical term. His appointment is a result of previous pastor member Rev Dr Tim Stringer being installed as ALC Principal last month.

Three Way Forward frameworks selected
The General Church Board and College of Bishops have approved three Way Forward frameworks for distribution across the LCANZ. The three frameworks are entitled Confessional Communities, Congregations Decide and District Alignment.

Way Forward project team appointed
The project team to lead the Ordination Resolution Way Forward project has been appointed. The three-person team of Tim Niewand, Stella Thredgold and Tony Vong, met for the first time on 18 April at the LCANZ head office in North Adelaide.

Synod elects new church leaders
The 20th General Synod elected Pastor Paul Smith as the LCANZ’s next bishop and Pastor Neville Otto as the assistant bishop. Delegates also elected the General Church Board to serve the LCANZ for the 2021-24 synodical term.
